Safe Driving

Growing public attention has focused on the relationship between safe driving and driver distractions. The consumer electronics industry is fully committed to promoting safe driver behavior, including safe use of in-vehicle electronics. At the same time, policymakers must recognize that in-vehicle electronics also contribute to safer driving and offer a number of valuable benefits. Vehicle navigation systems, for example, provide guidance by voice or pictogram and keep drivers from having to open and study maps, written directions or street signs. Hands-free mobile phones with voice or one-touch dialing allow drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Mobile communications devices provide safety and security to drivers through immediate access to emergency services and facilitate life-saving features such as Automatic Crash Notification (ACN).
